Palitana

Palitana is one of the famous Jainism temples located at the Palitana in Bhavnagar district, Gujarat. The city is also famous for its nicknamed "city of temples," It is considered one of the holiest places for the Jain community. This temple city is built for the divine feeling. It is said that no one is allowed to stay overnight in the temple premises, including the priest and Jain community believe that one should visit one time atleast in the life span to achieve nirvana.

There are approximately 863 marbles-carved temples on the hills, and one can reach the temple by stepping up around 3500 steps. The main temple is dedicated to the Rishabha, the first Tirthankara, and Digambara Jain has only one temple here.

If we talk about its premise architecture, it displays exquisite architecture and is very richly ornamented. The temple structure is built uniaquely that sunlight transforms the marble structure into some sort of ivory shield. All the Palitana Jain temples are also known as tucks, and Kumarpal, Samprati Raj, Vimalshah temples are the main temples in the Palitana.

Along with this, according to the rules of Jainism, neither food is eaten nor can it be taken after the evening, so all the devotees have to come down from the mountain before the evening.

According to Jainism, all the gods rest in the night, so the temples' doors are closed at night.

Let us tell you that there is a perfect place called Angad Pir on the top of the mountain, which is of great importance for the childless people; it is said that childless people are filled with the blessings of this Pir Sahib.

The most important thing if you want to visit Palitana, it is advisable not to visit the Palitana in the month of Karthik to avoid the crowd.
